Job Summary:
Join a fast-paced and innovative medical device manufacturing company as an engineering intern supporting the Research & Development (R&D) team. This role offers hands-on experience in improving production workflows, documenting technical processes, and ensuring quality standards for cutting-edge dental devices. You'll contribute to the development of new technologies, participate in cross-functional projects, and gain valuable insight into process design, quality control, and operations. If you're a driven biomedical engineering student passionate about healthcare innovation, this opportunity bridges the gap between classroom theory and real-world application.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the R&D team by developing and documenting SOPs, work instructions, and toolkits across various production workflows
  • Observe technicians to gather process data, identify key procedural steps, and translate findings into clear documentation
  • Participate in workflow mapping, time studies, and process improvement analysis
  • Maintain SOP tracking spreadsheets and ensure documentation aligns with current lab practices
  • Assist with engineering projects aimed at optimizing production efficiency, quality, and scalability
  • Collaborate with engineers, production staff, and quality assurance to implement new procedures
  • Assist in training and onboarding support for new interns and tech staff on R&D workflows
  • Contribute to project-based assignments and product development initiatives using 3D printing and digital design tools
  • Coordinate updates to internal documentation and help communicate findings across teams
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the R&D or operations leadership

Learning Opportunities:

  • Gain firsthand experience in medical device manufacturing and industry-standard quality systems
  • Apply biomedical engineering principles in real-world settings with exposure to resin-based 3D printing and digital workflows
  • Develop strong technical writing skills through the creation of detailed SOPs and documentation
  • Improve communication and leadership skills while working alongside engineers, supervisors, and management
  • Experience project ownership and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced environment

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial/Systems Engineering, or a related discipline
  • Strong academic foundation in process design, product development, and manufacturing systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other design software a plus
  • Ability to observe, learn quickly, and contribute to a team-driven environment
  • Ability to manage time effectively and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
