Composites Structural Designer

As the Composites Structural Designer, you’ll lead all composites design, tooling, and production for Dragonfly, turning our team vision into reality.

DUTIES: 

  • Design lightweight, durable composite structures for Dragonfly, optimizing for strength, thermal resilience, and extreme conditions.
  • Develop and oversee tooling design, ensuring precision and efficiency in fabrication processes.
  • Manage end-to-end production of composite components, from layup to curing, collaborating with manufacturing teams to meet rigorous aerospace standards.
  • Innovate solutions that simplify architecture—like our 75% part-count reduction inspired by SpaceX thrust vectoring—while enhancing reliability for firefighting missions.
  • Drive material selection (e.g., carbon fiber, resins) and processes to align with our goal of robust, cost-effective aerial fire monitoring.


SKILLS:

  • Expertise in CAD (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks, OnShape), composite fabrication (e.g., autoclave, out-of-autoclave).

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a U.S. Person (Defined as: a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, lawful permanent resident (green card holder), or an individual who has been granted asylum or refugee status, in accordance with U.S. export control regulations such as ITAR and EAR.)
  • Bachelor’s in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Materials Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Willing to commute or relocate.
  • Passion for our mission to revolutionize wildfire mitigation through autonomous tech.

EXPECTED HOURS/SCHEDULE:

  • Full Time: Monday-Friday 8am-6pm.
