Travel: 10% Domestic | 65% Local | 25% Remote - Some initial 6 month training may take place in our Southern California office
Pacific Blue Engineering is seeking a motivated and technically-minded candidate to fill a Sales Engineer in Training position. This entry-level role is designed for recent college graduates who are eager to blend technical knowledge with customer-facing responsibilities. In this exciting position, you will help design solutions, support the sales process, and develop strong relationships with clients across a variety of industries—including major Fortune 500 companies such as Disney, Universal Studios, Nestlé, PepsiCo, Toyota, and Tesla.
You’ll gain firsthand experience working in high-tech industrial environments, learn to translate technical concepts into customer value, and develop into a key player in a fast-growing automation and controls business. Skills to Be Developed
Learn how to analyze customer needs and propose automation solutions tailored to their specific requirements
Gain experience in scoping, estimating, and quoting technical projects involving PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, safety systems, robotics, and control panels
Assist with pre-sales technical discussions and solution presentations
Develop the ability to communicate complex technical solutions in a simple and persuasive manner
Collaborate with internal engineering teams to ensure proposals are accurate and deliverable
Visit customer sites with senior engineers and sales team to understand applications and assist in solution development
Gain product knowledge on platforms such as Allen Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, Ignition, Schneider Electric, and others
Support proposal documentation, follow-ups, and customer onboarding
Skillsets and Qualifications
BS in a technical field such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Physics
Strong communication and presentation skills
Coachable and eager to learn technical sales and client management
Interest in both engineering concepts and customer relationship building
Understanding of automation concepts such as PLCs, control panels, and industrial equipment (via coursework or internship)
Hands-on mindset; comfortable using laptops, voltmeters, and engaging in site visits
Team-oriented with a high degree of professionalism
Ability to listen actively and translate client feedback into actionable solutions
Reliable transportation for local travel
Strong organization, time management, and follow-up skills
