Chemical Engineer (Specialty Engineering Group)

Position Description:

Dominion Engineering, Inc. (Dominion), an Allied Power company is seeking an engineer with 0 to 5 years of experience and a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, including those graduating by August 2026. The candidate will be responsible for performing engineering and technical tasks, under general supervision, in support of chemical engineering consulting for nuclear plant operations. Reports to: Director – Plant Technical Services

Essential Functions:

  1. Performs chemical engineering calculations
  2. Prepares technical reports
  3. Develops high quality communication exhibits (graphs, charts, presentations)
  4. Prepares and executes laboratory test procedures
  5. Supports proposal development

    • Mass and energy balances

    • Chemical thermodynamics
    • Reaction kinetics
    • Electrochemistry
    • Chemical process control
    • Solid state chemistry (e.g., metallurgy) 
    • Nuclear power plant chemistry
    • Corrosion
  • Willing to travel up to 10-15% of the time (e.g., for Customer / industry meetings and occasional field support of products)
  • Ability to pass a drug screening test and background security investigation
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Physical Demands:

  • Work in an office and laboratory environment
  • Overtime and non-standard work hours as required
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment
  • Substantial footwear must be worn.
  • Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial equipment
  • Work in and around rotating equipment, high voltage electrical equipment, high noise areas and elevations
  • Daily work expectation requires ability to perform tasks by walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, crouching, squatting, twisting, pushing, pulling, and climbing (up to 25 pounds) in position above and below head, and extended from body to complete repairs
  • Lift, carry, position and use tools and/or equipment (weighing up to 25 lbs.) 
  • Ability to twist the body and neck while driving company vehicles or operating company equipment
  • Work with and around hazardous and non-hazardous materials (reference the waste management guidance manual)

Required Education, Experience, Certification and Licenses:

  • BS or MS Chemical Engineering
