Technology and Development Engineer Intern
Job Summary
This internship within Technology and Development allows for hands on experience supporting challenging product development projects. This is a unique opportunity to develop a diverse knowledge base in packaging, sustainability, and design through exposure to all aspects of the Paperboard T&D Project Engineer responsibilities and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Utilize full scale testing lab to conduct product testing for qualification of new materials, development of new packaging structures, and root cause analysis on technical product issues.
- Support development of folding carton packaging from ideation through commercialization in a way that meets or exceeds customer expectations, meets cost and timeline targets, and runs efficiently through the manufacturing process.
- Develop proficiency in Artios CAD to design packaging. Create prototypes for customer review.
- Enhance project management and interpersonal skills by working with cross-functional teams to support the qualification of new materials for product improvement, cost saving, supply chain diversification, and sustainability driven initiatives.
- Effectively communicate technical project updates, testing results, and conclusions to key stakeholders.
- Develop fundamental knowledge of the paperboard product lines and converting equipment.
- Develop a diverse knowledge base of packaging through exposure to topics such as sustainability, regulatory compliance, and material science as it pertains to packaging.
Job Qualifications
Required
- Strong GPA. Enrollment in Bachelor of Engineering or Packaging program.
- Strong project management and organization skills, self-driven with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- High mechanical aptitude, creative design ability, and analytical approach to problem solving.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
