Process Engineering Intern - Extrusion

The Process Engineering intern will support variation reduction efforts related to the EPDM extrusion process.  They will optimize material tail lengths for cost savings and optimize brush settings at the downstream roll-up operation. They will also work towards standardizing and control charting the critical process variables for the roll-up process in the extrusion stream. The intern will spend time in EPDM mixing and extrusion operations, as well as at the Research & Innovation Center. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Interact with Plant 4 Process Engineering, R&D Process Engineering, and the Operations team to build process capabilities of the extrusion stream
  • Work with the campus engineering team to automate curing information off of the vulcanization equipment for faster data analysis
  • Prepare a report and presentation on work done during the internship to be presented to the R&D group and the broader organization
  • Attend Daily Plant 4 Tier Meetings

Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Plastics, or Polymer Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution

Must have completed at least 60 credit hours toward the degree program (typically junior or senior standing)

The internship is expected to begin in Summer 2026, with the possibility of an earlier start date based on candidate availability and eligibility

The position will be located in Carlisle, PA, and reports to the plant Process Engineer
