Testing Adjusting And Balancing Technician
Position: Testing, Adjusting, & Balancing (TAB) and Aeroseal Flex Technician
Salary:
- Starts at $65,000/ year, paid hourly
Region:
- New York, New Jersey or Connecticut (Need to be able to make it to any of the 5 boroughs every morning by 7 am for work)

Role:
TAB technicians ensure that air and hydronic systems are operating as per design and meet specifications outlined by the design professional of record and project documents. With the right academic background, and after being with us for one year, a technician can seek certification to enhance not only their capabilities but also their salary by getting certified as a CT or CP with NEBB.
Aeroseal technicians learn to operate Aeroseals patented duct sealing technology, while becoming experts on identifying and remedying leakage within duct systems.
B&L is searching for candidates with a diversity of skills, adaptable mindset, and a good work ethic. Flex technicians will be evaluated in their first three months of employment, and assigned to the tasks and duties most compatible for their skill set.
Job Responsibilities:
- Proactively participate in our technician training program to become familiar with technical, cultural and customer satisfaction aspects of our firm
- Assess mechanical systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications, and troubleshoot problematic systems
- Test the performance of air and hydronic systems, using company-provided tools and test equipment, such as Pitot tubes, Manometers, Anemometers, Velometers, Tachometers, Psychrometers, and Thermometers, to isolate problems and determine necessary adjustments.
- Set up and operate Aeroseal’s patented internal duct sealant process/equipment
- Prepare for each project by conducting a system designreview and assembling of the requiredreporting documents for delivery to the end-user(s)
- Maintain logs of daily activities and prepare punch lists for our clientsoutlining any issuesdiscovered that need rectification
- The use of ladders is required to complete the task of Testing, Adjusting, and Balancing of air and hydronic systems. All employees must possess the ability to safely exercise ladder usage.
Knowledge:
- Mathematical proficiency is a necessity for completing basic and advanced equations associated with Air and Hydronic balancing
- Learn and understand the operational characteristics and capabilities of all required test equipment prior to project commencement
- Continuously educate oneself to become capable of performing assigned tasks without direct,full-time supervision
- Learn and understand the design intent of each given system associated with a project prior to project commencement
- Ability to review and understand mechanical, plumbing, drawings, specifications, submittals and control schematics
- Ability to understand and analyze mechanical HVAC systems for determining issues and determining basic recommendations for issue resolution(s).
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift, move, and carry equipment(up to 100 pounds)
- Must be able to work at heights
- Must have general and practical knowledge of hand and power tools
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Graduated or Enrolled in B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (or related fields),or a Trade School
- Basic Microsoft Excel software knowledge
