Trading Intern

Saba Capital Management is a New York based hedge fund founded in 2009 by Boaz Weinstein. We run a mix of strategies including credit relative value, tail hedging, and closed-end funds (CEFs). Our investment process is quantitative, data-driven, and collaborative, combining fundamental analysis with systematic tools and proprietary technology. 

 

Role Description

We are seeking a highly motivated undergraduate intern (Class of 2027 preferred) to join our investment team for the summer, with day-to-day work primarily supporting our Closed-End Fund strategy. The intern will work directly with portfolio managers and traders, gaining hands-on exposure to live portfolios, market data, and real investment decision-making. This is a front-office role with meaningful responsibility and learning opportunities.

Duration: 10 weeks 

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist traders and PMs with daily monitoring of positions, risk, and P&L
  • Analyze market data, pricing discrepancies, and relative-value opportunities
  • Build and maintain analytical tools, models, and dashboards to support trading decisions
  • Conduct ad-hoc research on securities, corporate actions, and market structure
  • Automate repetitive workflows using code where appropriate
  • Present findings clearly to the trading team

 

Required Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree (rising junior or senior preferred)
  • Coursework or background in computer science
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language
  • Intellectual curiosity about financial markets and trading

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior exposure to financial markets, trading, or investing (academic or extracurricular)
  • Software development experience, including working with databases (SQL preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast-paced environment
