Manufacturing Engineer Intern/Co-op

Location:  Colonial Heights, VA

Duration:  Intern (~10 weeks)

 

Overview

The Engineering Intern will implement an improvement project to increase the output, reliability, or performance of a manufacturing production line. The Engineering Intern will work under the supervision of senior engineers and be introduced to and use engineering tools and concepts. The Engineering Intern will also complete administrative engineering work as assigned by senior engineers.

The Engineering Intern will learn about manufacturing processes, how changes and improvements are made, and formalized Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).

 

Responsibilities

  • Comply with all Plant Safety, GMP, ISO, OSHA procedures, and other programs.
  • Comply with all Plant rules and regulations.
  • Support senior engineers and mechanics on major equipment replacement projects
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Supervisor(s).
  • Responsibilities can include DOE (Design of Experiments) for test work. 
  • Work will include keeping complete records of work, recording observations, and assisting in any other work as necessary per Senior Engineers to complete daily routine and non- routine Process Development Activities. 
  • Work may also include monitoring or conducting plant trials and studies as assigned by supervisors and may include assisting in troubleshooting manufacturing batches.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled undergraduate students who have completed at least one year of college coursework while pursuing a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, including chemical, industrial, mechanical, or other closely related discipline.
  • Aptitude and willingness to learn how to interface with different platforms, run reports, and engage with various company systems. 
  • Experience in Microsoft 365 applications required.
  • Statistical and analytical experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.  
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment, desire to learn and contribute to a growing company.  
  • Must be able to work with machine operators, mechanics, contractors and/or vendors.
  • Must be a team player and work well with others. 
  • Candidates must have US Work Authorization (US Citizen, permanent resident, green card holder).
