Process Development Intern

Position Summary

 

The Process Development Internship will provide a hands-on training experience for downstream unit operations including lysis, clarification, and chromatography.  The intern will gain knowledge related to the production and purification of AAV as well as gain experience working in a collaborative team environment and contributing to group projects.  The intern’s main project will focus on binding capacity experiments, residence time determination, and buffer selection for chromatographic steps.  These experiments will be used to enhance downstream processes to increase efficiency and reduce processing time. 

 

This position will report to a Research Associate on our Process Development team at our RTP location.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Support the Process Development team with various downstream applications
  • Learn how to use downstream processing equipment and instruments
  • Communicate project progress with PD members
  • Collect and analyze experimental data
  • Maintain clear records of experiments performed using electronic lab notebook
  • Present completed project in a formal presentation

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Must be at least a Junior in university at the time of your application
  • Proactive and solution-driven mindset
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and ability to learn new technologies quickly
  • Strong sense of accountability and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible and willing to support a variety of tasks for the Process Development team
  • Available to work full-time at the office during the summer months (May-August) at an AskBio office

 

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills

  • Prior internship, work, or volunteer/extracurricular experience
  • Prior experience working in a lab environment
