Environmental Consultant

SUMMARY

Using fundamental technical skills, analytical abilities, and up-to-date regulatory knowledge, provide complete customer oriented, air quality compliance solutions and regulatory compliance for clients in the chemical and refining industries. Additionally, assist clients with permitting solutions and permitting compliance.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Technical Responsibilities:
  • Calculate air emissions, determine required control technologies, and document process information to ensure client operations, and work practices are in accordance with all applicable regulations.
  • Review and assess process flow diagrams and process instrumentation diagrams as related to environmental consulting responsibilities.
  • Analyze and interpret large data sets to facilitate compliance reviews, audits, emissions calculations, etc.
  • Drafting of air permit applications, potential emissions calculations, audit and compliance reports, and other client deliverable documents.
  • Participate in client in-field site visits.

2. Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Conduct applicability analysis based on client operations for federal regulations specific to chemical and refining industries.
  • Understand existing regulations and continually review new and proposed regulations as they relate to industrial clients.
  • Fundamental understanding of permit applications, permit amendment applications, standard exemptions, and source inventories.
  • Communicate results of analyses internally and externally in verbal and written form.

3. Be a collaborative team member within Trinity and with our clients.

4. Update client information in internal database in a timely manner.

5. Participate in sales, training and marketing activities as a necessary part of professional development within Trinity.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This position requires the employee to have high level of self-motivation, individual responsibility and accountability as the employee will be expected to be able to complete assigned tasks with a high level of technical accuracy prior to management review. The employee is expected to manage tasks independently, recognize when guidance is needed, and communicate proactively. Expectation to exercise sound judgement on when to escalate issues to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budgetary constraints.

 

ADDITIONAL GENERAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Nationwide travel is expected as part of this role and is expected to be ~ 33% - 50% of time as project and business development activities require.
  • Acquisition of a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC Card) will be required upon employment.
  • This position provides flexibility in location, with the caveat that employee must reside within reasonable driving proximity of a major airport hub and Trinity Office (ideally within 1 hour).
  • Hybrid position after 6 months of initial onboarding. Upon going hybrid, expectation to be in Trinity Office a minimum of 2 days per week when not traveling.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B. S.) in Chemical Engineering from four-year college or university or foreign equivalent; and at least two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Must have computer literacy, including basic programming, word processing, spreadsheet skills, and knowledge of Microsoft Office software package. Experience with business-critical software such as Aspen™, ChemCad, ™ Emissions Master™, SAP™, Skybridge™ or similar software is a plus but not required.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Fluency in Microsoft Excel™. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as concentrations, mass rates, percentages, areas, volumes, flows, sums, averages, minimums, maximums, time weighted values. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to convert units.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems, often with a variety of variables in situations where only limited data and standardization exist. Ability to interpret a variety of data and instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the office bound duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use their hands; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. While participating in onsite field activities, the employee must be able to climb stairs and ladders, wear flame resistant protection (FRP) clothing and other safety protective gear (i.e. gloves, safety glasses, safety goggles, steel-toed boots, reflective vests, etc.) and be on their feet for several hours at a time in outdoor conditions. The employee must also be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 35 pounds.
