Controls And Electrical Engineer Intern

Headwaters Solutions LLC seeks an entry level controls and electrical engineer intern/coop interested in detailed engineering from concept development through shop manufacturing and plant commissioning.  

Headwaters is the Western Hemisphere's only supplier of new hydrogen and synthesis gas plants up to 10 MMscfd for heavy industrial and clean energy applications. Headwaters is also a leading provider of engineered systems for hydrogen dispensing and transportation.

The successful candidate will conduct design, quality control and commissioning, and test work on power distribution systems including microgrids, low voltage control panels, programmable and discrete controllers integrated into industrial networks, and instrumentation and actuators. A demonstrated interest in clean energy and the environment is desired along with teamwork, a good attitude, and the ability to work independently. Headwaters is a Rockwell reseller, therefore Allen-Bradley controllers and human machine interfaces are the primary work environment along with other selected specialty systems when dictated by performance requirements.   Experience with programming PLC's or microcontrollers is a strong plus, as is any experience in electrical system fabrication, installation or maintenance.

Headwaters is headquartered in the Finger Lakes region of New York State with offices and manufacturing plant in Ithaca,  New York. We conduct projects throughout the Western Hemisphere. We will consider candidates who are interested in co-op/intern work during their academic training leading to full time hire. Our preference is for candidates with a major in electrical engineering who are interested in eventually achieving engineering licensure, but will consider mechanical or chemical engineers with demonstrated interest or experience in electrical design and control systems.
