Associate Researcher - Elahi Lab - Computational Approaches to Neurodegeneration
The Elahi Lab at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a highly motivated computational researcher to join our neurodegenerative disease research program. Our team operates at the intersection of clinical and preclinical research, with a focus on developing molecular biomarkers for brain vascular disease and neurodegenerative disorders. We leverage multi-omics data and electronic health records (EHR) to explore the molecular mechanisms underlying vascular neurodegeneration.
The successful candidate will be involved in research that combines computational approaches with clinical insights to uncover patterns and mechanisms in neurodegenerative disease. Primary responsibilities include analyzing large-scale multi-omics datasets, developing computational pipelines for biomarker discovery, and integrating various data types including clinical, imaging, and molecular data. The position offers excellent opportunities to work with cutting-edge computational methods while contributing to impactful research in neurodegenerative diseases.
Candidates should have completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Engineering, or Computational Biology. Programming proficiency in either R or Python is required. While specific experience with bioinformatics techniques is not required, candidates should demonstrate strong computational skills and a willingness to learn new methods. We are looking for detail-oriented individuals who are eager to apply computational approaches to complex biological problems and contribute to a collaborative research environment. This position is ideal for those interested in gaining experience in computational biology and biomedical research before pursuing advanced degrees.
Successful candidates can expect to work in a dynamic, supportive environment that values team-based science and rigorous research methods. Our lab members receive regular mentorship and have opportunities to participate in project development and scientific presentations at international conferences.
Interested candidates should apply on Handshake or submit a current CV to Jonah Keller (jonah.keller@mssm.edu) directly. The Elahi Lab is committed to fostering an inclusive environment and encourages applications from candidates of all backgrounds.
