Controls Engineer Intern

POSITION: CONTROLS ENGINEER INTERN

Location: Overland Park, KS

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Controls Engineer Intern works on a variety of automation projects and performs as a team member. This position interacts with clients to understand and develop automation requirements and transform them into effective software solutions. This position leverages client relationships and utilizes knowledge of PLCs and HMIs, strong written and verbal communication skills, must be team-oriented and self-motivated. 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop high-quality, error-free industrial software programs in keeping with the defined project requirements. 
  • Work with Allen-Bradley, Rockwell, Siemens, ABB, Ignition, SQL software platforms. 
  • Work with and support other members of the project team.
  • Assist in preparing scopes of work, bills of material, specifications, cost estimates, and other necessary projects documents.
  • Build Schematics and Build Electrical Control panels for project applications. 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Pursuing Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related field from an ABET accredited college or university.
  • College Controls Classes, Internship or Co-Op Experience with controls, automation, and electrical troubleshooting and start-up experience preferred. 
  • Varied industrial background is a plus. Key industries include food, chemical, pharmaceuticals, steel, glass, and manufacturing.
  • Candidates need to possess good communication and interpersonal skills, flexibility with tasks and the ability to interact with all levels of management, clients, and vendors.
