Agency Overview: The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division (NSWC IHD) is the Department of Defense (DoD) Energetics Center and serves as the DoD Explosive Ordnance Disposal Technology Program lead. NSWC IHD focuses on the research, development, test, evaluation and in-service support of energetics and energetic systems as well as works to provide Soldiers, Marines, Sailors, and Airmen worldwide with the information and technological solutions they need to detect/locate, access, identify, render safe, recover/exploit, and dispose of both conventional and unconventional explosive threats.
Job Description: As a civilian engineer/scientist, you may be working with explosives; propellants; pyrotechnics; chemicals; rocket, missile, and gun propulsion systems; missile simulators; test and diagnostic equipment; tri-service cartridge-actuated devices; propellant-actuated devices; and aircrew escape propulsion systems, to name a few. Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Explosives Ordnance Disposal Technology Division (NSWC IHD) provides special weapons support, explosives safety support, and ordnance environmental support to the U.S. foreign military and ordnance industry.
Salary Range:
• $82,305 for candidates graduating with a bachelor’s degree
• $90,898 for candidates graduating with a master’s degree
• $101,401 up to $156,755 annual for experienced candidates (salary will vary depending on the duty location, education, and experience)
The salary for student employment opportunities is set based on the number of college credits the student has obtained.
