Industrial Engineering Intern
INTERNSHIP SCOPE:
The intern will support for a temporary period to conduct in-person time study inside the CEA and Packaging areas at West Oak and Town Park. The scope of the time study will include all products and processes and will focus on labor analysis as well as cycle time analysis. This data is required to update the current labor standards for all products.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Industrial Engineering Intern:
Process analysis:
Conduct time studies, workflow mapping, and data collection to understand the current run times (labor standards) and processing cycle time for each product.
Lean manufacturing:
Support the implementation of lean principles such as 5S, just-in-time inventory, and continuous flow to minimize waste and maximize efficiency.
Project support:
Assist in project planning, execution, and monitoring of process improvement initiatives.
Data analysis:
Utilize statistical tools to analyze production data, identify trends, and generate reports to inform decision-making.
Collaboration:
Work cross-functionally with teams like production, manufacturing engineering, quality engineering and quality control.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES:
- Complete the labor analysis and processing cycle time study and analyze the results for all sustaining products and processes before the due date.
- Contribute ideas on how to improve the process and make it efficient.
TIMELINES/DUE DATES:
- Mar 31, 2025 - Sept 2025 (maximum)
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS PER WEEK:
- 40 Hours per week
- The position requires the person to be onsite at West Oak and/or Town Park site depending on the need.
- The position may require the individual to follow gowning procedures and be inside the CEA up to 8 hours a day.
- The position may require the individual to stand on their feet up to 8 hours a day.
STUDY DISCIPLINE AND PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
- Basic understanding of statistical methods and data analysis
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
