Job Title: Electrical Engineering Intern
The electrical engineering intern assists with electromagnetic interference (EMI) testing and supports sustaining projects. This includes performing testing on engineering units, supporting component obsolescence efforts, and making updates to documentation for international trade commission (ITC) / export control compliance.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Lab Preparation & EMI Testing:
- Prepare the lab and equipment following applicable EMI standards.
- Conduct EMI tests on products, ensuring adherence to protocols.
- Support troubleshooting for EMI issues and propose corrective actions based on test results and compliance requirements.
- Support documentation efforts to maintain up-to-date records and accuracy.
- Collaborate with the engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure drawings meet production requirements and quality compliance.
- Generate engineering change notices (ECNs) in support of drawing updates and obsolescence efforts.
- Generate reports and presentations regarding design changes and evaluations.
Requirements:
- Goal for this position to turn into a full-time 40-hour work week during the summer.
- Exposure to SolidWorks or related CAD software.
- Exposure to schematic capture tools such as PADS, Altium, etc.
- Experience with electrical components and obsolescence management.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Working knowledge of desktop computers.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Adobe.
