Transportation Engineer - Kanawha County

The Transportation Engineer performs engineering work in the planning, design, construction, maintenance, and operation of highways and their attendant facilities and structures.  Work is performed within a defined framework of policy, but the incumbent independently makes engineering decisions within that framework and may make or assist in making broad decisions in setting objectives and goals. Positions within this classification may function as Assistant Engineering Director, Assistant District Engineer, or Regional Engineer. This position will manage the Publications Section and be responsible for overseeing and facilitating the development of proposed specifications and project specific special provisions for the WVDOH; Will be a chairperson of three technical committees housed within Technical Support Division (Specifications Committee, Standards Committee, and Manuals Committee); And will actively participate in Specifications Committee meetings and coordinate throughout the Division and with industry personnel in specification development. This incumbent should have knowledge of specifications, construction reference manuals, and related files and will disseminate this information and provide technical support to others. Performs related duties as required.
